Biography

A graduate of The Julliard School, flutist Wendy Stern enjoys a diverse career, combining her love of performance with her passion for teaching. With the innovative ensemble Flute Force, Wendy has premiered and recorded over 50 new works for the flute quartet and most recently she has recorded with Ensemble Triolet, The Cicada Ensemble, and the NeSterN Duo. As a freelance flutist in the New Work area, Wendy plays frequently with the New Jersey Symphony, American Composers Orchestra, Orchestra of the League of Composers, Orchestra Lumos, Oratorio Society New York, and had been fortunate to be on the substitute roster of such prestigious orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Saint Lukes.

In demand as a recitalist, chamber musician, and masterclass teacher, Wendy has been the invited guest artist at festivals and workshops in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States. Ms. Stern’s young students have gone on to attend The Julliard School, Curtis Institute, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, universities including Yale, Princeton, and Harvard, and are the recipients of accolades from many local and national competitions. Presently, Wendy is a Registered Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Trainer and had recently been appointed a Teacher Trainer of the Asia Suzuki Region Association.
