Ms. Wendy is truly a magical teacher.

After graduating from the Juilliard School with a degree in flute performance, I discovered the beauty and magic of the Suzuki philosophy. I then started my training in Suzuki pedagogy in the USA and eventually continued my studies with Suzuki Flute School founder Toshio Takahashi in Matsumoto, Japan. As a Registered Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Trainer and Teacher Trainer of the Asia Suzuki Region Association, I have been the invited guest clinician at numerous institutes and workshops throughout Canada, the United States, England, Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan.

Suzuki lessons focus on listening, tone production, and individually tailored instruction. Utilizing the "Mother Tongue Approach," students are immersed in the sound of the flute and the basic mechanics of playing. Caregivers attend lessons and assist with practice at home, which promotes a strong bond between parent and child. Students who begin this way can start playing as early as three years of age and develop a life-long love of music.

Using this philosophy, I have taught impulsive learners, cautious learners, and children with learning differences, visual impairments, cleft palates, indigent resources – and in every case, the Suzuki method has enabled my students to achieve at the highest possible level by progressing in small steps and being encouraged along the way with kindness, respect, technical acumen and long-term vision. My young students have gone on to attend The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Universities including Yale, Princeton and Harvard, and are the recipients of accolades from many local and national competitions.

Wendy has an incredible ability to capture childrens’ attention and motivate them to play with joy rather than obligation, which makes all the difference in a child’s musical journey. While Ms. Wendy is a highly skilled Suzuki flute teacher, what truly sets her apart is her deep understanding of each child’s individual needs and her ability to help them flourish. She also offers invaluable guidance to parents, helping us support our children both musically and personally.
